A team that isn’t all in one room

Your engineering team may be based in Dubai with part of its capacity elsewhere: a contractor in another country, a second office, a few developers who work remotely. The lead in Dubai still has to answer for the sprint.

A board that depends on people dragging cards works poorly in that setup. The remote half updates it at the end of their day, the office half updates it after the stand-up, and in between nobody is sure which cards are current. The lead ends up asking in chat, which is the meeting the board was meant to replace.

ShipSprint ties the board to the repository instead. On Team and up, a GitHub branch moves its card when work starts, and a merged pull request closes it when it’s done. Wherever the developer is, the board shows the same state the code is in.

Assistants with the developer’s own permissions

On Team and Business, Claude Code, Cursor, Claude, ChatGPT and Antigravity connect to the workspace over MCP. A developer can ask what’s assigned to them, check what’s blocked, or update a task from the editor. The assistant can do only what that developer could do. On Business, every assistant action is recorded in the workspace audit log, which is the record a lead or a client’s security team will want when contractors are involved.

There is no screen capture, keystroke logging or activity tracking anywhere in ShipSprint, which matters when part of the team is remote and could reasonably worry about being watched. Hours, for teams that log them, take about five seconds next to the finished task. On Business, scorecards use delivered work and self-logged hours, adjusted for leave, and each developer can see their own.

Sizing sprints through Ramadan

Working hours are often shorter during Ramadan, and the Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha holidays move about eleven days earlier each year. Capacity planning on Team and up counts approved leave, out-of-office and public holidays, but the shorter days are a judgement the lead has to make: plan a lighter sprint for those weeks rather than carrying a normal commitment.

If part of the team works from another country, their holidays differ from the UAE’s. Put both calendars into the plan so neither side commits for the other.

From Dubai: what to check before you commit

Billing. Seats are billed in Indian rupees through Razorpay, converted to dirhams by your bank. How UAE VAT applies is a question for your accountant.

Data protection. Bug reports and test data can contain personal data. Onshore, the federal Personal Data Protection Law (Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021) applies; a free-zone company in DIFC follows that zone’s own rules. The sub-processor list and the security overview are the documents to compare with your obligations and any client contract.
