Why teams leave ClickUp, and why some should stay
ClickUp can be shaped into almost anything: dozens of views, custom fields, a five-level hierarchy and a deep automation engine. Teams usually leave for the same reason they chose it. Someone has to keep all of that configured, every new team builds its own setup, and after a year the workspace reflects a history of decisions more than the way people work now.
ShipSprint makes the opposite bet. The board mechanism is small and the same for everyone: WIP limits on each column, a triage inbox for new requests, and a “my day” screen with a five-second time log. There is far less to configure, so there is far less to drift.
That trade only works if you don't need what ClickUp's breadth gives you. If your team relies on whiteboards, goal tracking, spreadsheet-style views or complex automations, stay on ClickUp. The full comparison is honest about where ClickUp is the better choice.
A two-week switch for one team
- Day 1: start the trial. It runs on the full Business plan for 14 days with a sample project loaded, and it doesn't ask for a card.
- Day 1: bring over active work only. Write to sk@quantuva.in before you start to ask what can be imported from ClickUp. Whatever the answer, move only the tasks that are open now. Closed tasks and old history can stay in ClickUp for reference.
- Day 2: set the limits. Turn the team's statuses into board columns and give each one a WIP limit. This is the step that replaces most of the automations people build to stop work piling up.
- Day 2: connect GitHub if the team writes code, so branches move cards and merged pull requests close them.
- Days 2 to 10: run one sprint in ShipSprint. Everyone else carries on in ClickUp. Log time next to the tasks you close, and send new requests to the triage inbox instead of someone's messages.
- Days 11 to 14: compare and decide. Ask the team which tool they would keep, and look at how much time went into maintaining each. If ShipSprint works, move the next team. If it doesn't, the trial ends and nothing is charged.
Where your ClickUp habits land
Most of what a team does in ClickUp has a direct home. Some things are deliberately simpler.
One level of structure instead of five. Each team or client gets a project with its own board, backlog, sprints and roadmap.
Your workflow stages stay, and each column gets a WIP limit, so a full stage stops new work from landing without an automation rule.
Decisions and specs live next to the work, with page history, and any sentence on a page can become a task.
On Team and Business, a day's hours take about five seconds to log next to the task just closed, and a missed day reminds the person, not their manager.
The manager dashboard comes with Team. On Business, the owner command center and delivery forecasts from measured velocity replace most hand-built reports.
On Team and Business, Claude, ChatGPT, Claude Code, Cursor and Antigravity connect to the board over MCP and act with each person's own permissions.
What it costs
Team is ₹299 per user per month (₹2,899 a year) for up to 40 people, with time tracking, GitHub sync and the manager dashboard. Business is ₹599 (₹6,499 a year) and adds the owner command center, delivery forecasts, scorecards, the audit log and sign-in with Google or Microsoft. Prices are per seat and billed in rupees, there are no paid add-ons, and every paid charge has a 7-day refund. The pricing page has a seat calculator.
Questions about leaving ClickUp
Ask us at sk@quantuva.in before you start, and we'll tell you what can be brought across. Either way, we'd suggest moving only open work and leaving closed tasks in ClickUp for reference.
Possibly. ShipSprint has a board, backlog, sprint and roadmap view over the same work, and far fewer view types than ClickUp. Run one sprint before deciding: the trial shows quickly whether your team needs the extra views or only used a few.
Yes, and we'd suggest it. One team works in ShipSprint for a sprint while everyone else carries on in ClickUp.
Nothing is charged, because the trial never asked for a card. The workspace drops to the Free plan with nothing deleted, and you can export everything as JSON at any time.
When your team depends on whiteboards, goal tracking, spreadsheet-style views or complex automations, and someone enjoys keeping that setup in shape. ShipSprint does less configuration by design.
