Switch from Jira to ShipSprint
Import one project, connect GitHub, run a sprint side by side, then move the rest. Two weeks, one team at a time, and Jira stays untouched until you're sure.

Why teams move, and why some shouldn't
Teams usually leave Jira for one of three reasons. It needs an admin to keep the workflows, fields and permission schemes in shape, and nobody wants that job. The bill grows with every app bolted on for timesheets, docs or reporting. And it serves engineering well while HR, marketing and operations run on something else, so the company never has one picture of its work.
ShipSprint covers the same core: boards, sprints, story points, releases, burndown and cycle time, GitHub sync. It works close to out of the box, and the same subscription covers every department. It deliberately does less configuration, though. If your process depends on deep custom workflows, custom issue types at scale or Jira Service Management, stay on Jira; the full comparison is honest about where Jira is the better choice.
A two-week switch, one team at a time
- Day 1: start the trial. It runs on the full Business plan for 14 days with a sample project loaded, and it doesn't ask for a card.
- Day 1: import one project. Use the importer on a single active Jira project, not the whole instance, and check what came across against Jira before going further.
- Day 2: connect GitHub. From then on a branch tied to a card starts it and a merged pull request closes it, so the board keeps itself current.
- Days 2 to 10: run one sprint side by side. The team works in ShipSprint; Jira stays as it is. Set WIP limits on the columns and let people log time next to the tasks they close.
- Day 10: compare. Look at the burndown, cycle time and the delivery forecast against what Jira told you. Ask the team which one they'd keep.
- Days 11 to 14: move the rest, or don't. If it works, import the remaining projects and invite the other departments. If it doesn't, the team simply carries on in Jira.
The Jira habits that carry over
Most of what a team does in Jira has a direct home. A few things work differently on purpose.
All there, with burndown and cycle-time analytics built from the same work. Delivery forecasts come from the team's measured velocity, not the plan made at kickoff.
Branches move cards and merged pull requests close them, so the board's state comes from the repository rather than someone remembering to drag a card.
Decisions live next to the work with page history, and any sentence on a page can become a task. There's no second tool to pay for or keep in sync.
Time logs sit next to the task just closed and roll up by project. A missing day reminds the person, not their manager.
Instead of transition rules an admin maintains, a full column simply won't take another card. Less to configure, and less to route around.
Claude, ChatGPT, Claude Code, Cursor and Antigravity can all read and update the board with your permissions, on the Team plan and up.
What it costs
Team is ₹299 per user per month (₹2,899 a year) for up to 40 people, with time tracking and GitHub sync included. Business is ₹599 (₹6,499 a year) and adds the owner command center, forecasts, scorecards, the audit log and Google or Microsoft sign-in. Prices are per seat, billed in rupees with GST-compliant invoices, and every paid charge has a 7-day no-questions refund. See pricing for the seat calculator.
Questions about switching
Yes. Import one active project first and check it against Jira before you move the rest, so you see exactly what came across on your own data.
Yes, and we'd suggest it. Jira keeps running as it is, so one team can run a sprint in ShipSprint while everyone else carries on.
Nothing. The trial ends without a charge because it never asked for a card, the workspace drops to the Free plan with nothing deleted, and you can export everything as JSON at any time.
No. Tie a branch to a card and keep using pull requests as usual. The sync reads what already happens in the repository.
If your process depends on deep custom workflows, custom issue types at scale, Jira Service Management or a large Atlassian app stack. ShipSprint does less configuration by design.
