Why the sprint plan was wrong on day three

Most sprint plans fail for ordinary reasons. Someone was on leave for two days and nobody subtracted it. A production issue pulled two engineers off for an afternoon. A "quick question" from another team turned into a day of work. None of it was recorded, so the next sprint is planned on the same optimistic numbers.

Unplanned requests go into a triage inbox rather than straight to a developer, so the lead can see how much interruption the team absorbed and decide what gets bumped. And the board itself stays honest. On Team and up, opening a branch for a card moves it and merging the pull request closes it, so the state of the sprint comes from GitHub rather than from who remembered to drag a card.

Forecasts from what the team actually delivered

On Business, ShipSprint recalculates delivery forecasts from measured velocity every time a sprint closes. Once a few sprints have closed with leave and interruptions included, the forecast reflects how this team really works, not how the plan hoped it would. A release date that's drifting shows up sprints ahead, which leaves time to cut scope.

Scorecards on Business are built from delivered work and self-logged hours, adjusted for approved leave, and each developer sees their own. There are no screenshots, keystroke logs or activity tracking anywhere in the product.

The Telangana calendar in sprint planning

Two regional festivals are worth marking before anything else: Sankranti in January and Bathukamma in the autumn. Add Diwali and Holi, and the regional festivals of developers from other states, which vary from state to state, and a sprint that crosses any of them has less capacity than a normal one. Capacity planning on Team and up subtracts those days once leave is approved, so the commitment matches the people who will be there. If your company works some Saturdays, as some firms do, plan on actual working days.

Time zones. You and support share IST; expect a reply the same working day in most cases.

Billing. Seats are billed in rupees through Razorpay. Prices exclude GST, which the invoice includes, and companies with a valid GSTIN can usually claim input-tax credit. Ask your accountant to confirm.

Data protection. Bug reports, logs and test data can include personal data covered by the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, and client contracts may add restrictions. Check the sub-processor list and the security overview against both before pasting them into tasks.
