Is this fixed-price project still profitable?

A fixed-price quote is a bet on effort. It's made at the start, when the requirements are least clear, and it's tested weeks later, one "small change" at a time. Most firms only find out whether the bet paid off after the project is delivered, when someone adds up the hours from memory.

ShipSprint answers the question while the project is running. On Team and up, developers log time in about five seconds, beside the task they've just finished. Each client's work sits in its own project, so the hours against the quote are visible week by week. If the build has used most of its budgeted hours with a third of the scope left, you know while there's still time to talk to the client.

A missed day gets a reminder to that developer, not their manager, and nothing in the product takes screenshots, logs keystrokes or tracks activity.

Change requests, said out loud

Scope creep rarely arrives as a formal request. It arrives as a phone call or a message: can the form also send an SMS, can we add one more page. If a developer simply does it, the quote absorbs it.

In ShipSprint, every request from a client goes into a triage inbox first. The project lead decides whether it's in the original scope, a paid change, or something for the maintenance contract later, and only then does it reach a developer. The decision and its reasoning go into the project's wiki page, with page history, so there's a record when the invoice is discussed.

Per-column WIP limits on each client's board keep a developer from juggling five half-finished changes for three clients. When a column is full, a new request waits, and the client can be told why.

Delivery dates and the holiday calendar

Capacity planning on Team and up counts approved leave and public holidays before a delivery date is agreed. For a Jaipur firm that means Diwali and Holi, Rajasthan's state holidays, and the regional festivals of developers from other states, which differ from state to state. If you work Saturdays some weeks, as some firms do, plan on the days people are in.

Data protection. Client databases and test data often contain personal data, which is governed by the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, and a client's contract may impose further terms. Check the sub-processor list and the security overview against both before such data goes into a task.
