Two speeds of delivery under one roof
Toronto is Canada’s main financial centre, and software work for financial institutions usually comes with formal change control. In a company that also builds its own products, that can mean two delivery speeds in the same building: one team ships to production several times a week, another waits for a change-approval meeting, a test sign-off and a release window. Most project tools are designed for one of those, and the other team works around it.
ShipSprint lets each team set up its own board. A fast product team can run continuous flow with per-column WIP limits. A change-controlled team can make its approval steps the columns themselves, such as “awaiting change approval” and “scheduled for window”, so the state of every change is visible without a separate tracker. Both share one workspace, one subscription and one triage inbox for requests from the rest of the company.
On Team and up, GitHub keeps both boards current: a branch moves its card, and a merged pull request closes it.
Controls that a finance-adjacent team will ask about
Teams that work with banks and insurers tend to get asked how their own tools are controlled. ShipSprint’s answers are short. Every workspace is an isolated tenant, and every user has two-factor authentication. Business adds sign-in with Google or Microsoft and the workspace audit log, which records actions across the workspace, including those AI assistants take on a user’s behalf. Assistants on Team and up act only with the permissions of the person using them. The full workspace can be exported as JSON on every plan.
For managers, the product deliberately leaves things out: no screenshots, no keystroke logging and no activity tracking. Scorecards on Business are built from delivered work and self-logged hours, adjusted for approved leave and visible to the person they describe.
Who uses it in a Toronto company
Templates and vocabulary for engineering, HR, marketing and operations are all on the same plan.
Continuous boards or sprints, a “my day” screen and an “I’m blocked” button for each developer.
Change-approval steps as columns, so a change’s status is where its card sits.
Onboarding checklists, access requests and recurring procedures with owners and dates.
On Business, forecasts from measured velocity, the owner command center and a Monday digest.
Using ShipSprint from Toronto: what to know first
Who you’re buying from. ShipSprint is built by Quantuva Technologies Pvt. Ltd. in Hyderabad, India. There is no office or local entity in Canada, and support works by email and in-app chat.
Time zones. IST is 10 hours 30 minutes ahead of Toronto in winter and 9 hours 30 minutes ahead in summer, so our working days hardly overlap. Support replies usually arrive the same Indian working day, which means a question sent in your afternoon is typically answered overnight.
Billing. Plans are billed per seat in Indian rupees through Razorpay, and your bank converts each charge to Canadian dollars. How HST applies to a service bought from a supplier outside Canada is a question for your accountant.
Data protection. Most private-sector organisations in Canada are covered by PIPEDA, and some provinces have their own laws. If you work for financial institutions, your client contracts will usually have vendor requirements of their own. Check the sub-processor list and the security overview against your obligations and those contracts before moving personal information in.
Leave and holidays in the plan
Capacity planning on Team and up counts approved leave and out-of-office before a sprint or a release is committed. The dates that most often shrink a Toronto team’s capacity are Canada Day on 1 July, Thanksgiving in October and the Christmas to New Year period, which is worth checking against any release window you have planned for December.
