After the round closes, the hiring starts
With five people, a startup runs on shared context. Everyone was in the meeting where the decision was made. Then a round closes and the team doubles in a few months, and the new people have none of that context. They ask the founders, the founders become the bottleneck, and the work that the money was raised for slows down while everyone is busy explaining things.
ShipSprint helps the second wave of hires get up to speed without a founder in every conversation. Decisions, product specs and how-we-work notes live in the built-in wiki with page history, beside the cards they shaped, and any sentence can become a task. HR templates turn onboarding into a checklist with an owner, so a new engineer’s first week has a path through the right pages, the right repository and the right first tasks.
Each new person starts on a “my day” screen rather than the whole backlog: today’s items, a one-tap time log, and an “I’m blocked” button that pulls in the person who can help, with context. For a new hire who doesn’t yet know who to ask, that matters more than it sounds.
Keeping the founder’s view as the team grows
A founder who used to know everything now needs a summary they can trust. On Team, the manager dashboard shows who is working on what and who is overloaded, with approved leave counted in capacity planning, and email digests keep people up to date without another meeting.
On Business, the owner command center puts every team on one screen and the Monday digest arrives assembled. Delivery forecasts recalculate from measured velocity as sprints close, which gives you an honest answer when an investor asks about the next milestone. Scorecards are adjusted for leave and visible to the person they describe, and nothing in ShipSprint monitors screens, keystrokes or activity.
On Team and up, the engineering board follows GitHub: a branch moves its card and a merged pull request closes it. New engineers don’t need to learn a ritual of updating cards to keep the board accurate.
What a growing team leans on
Candidate boards from the HR templates, in the same workspace as the product.
A checklist per new hire with an owner, pointing to the wiki pages and first tasks.
On Team and up, Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and others can answer “what’s assigned to me?” over MCP, within the user’s own permissions.
Requests from customers and the rest of the company sorted before they reach a new engineer’s day.
Using ShipSprint from Toronto: what to settle first
Who you’re buying from. ShipSprint comes from Quantuva Technologies Pvt. Ltd., based in Hyderabad, India. We have no office or local entity in Canada. Support runs over email and in-app chat.
Time zones. IST is 10 hours 30 minutes ahead of Toronto in winter and 9 hours 30 minutes ahead in summer. Expect support replies within the same working day in India, so a question sent at the end of your day usually has an answer by the next morning.
Billing. Paid plans are billed per seat in Indian rupees via Razorpay, and your bank converts them to Canadian dollars. Team is ₹2,899 per user per year if you pay annually, Business ₹6,499. Ask your accountant how HST applies to a service bought from abroad.
Data protection. PIPEDA covers how most Canadian businesses handle personal information, and some provinces have their own laws. A hiring pipeline holds candidate data, so check the sub-processor list and the security overview against your own obligations and any customer contracts before it goes into the workspace.
Start dates and holidays
A new hire’s first weeks are when gaps in the team hurt most. Capacity planning on Team and up counts approved leave and public holidays, including Canada Day on 1 July, Thanksgiving in October and the Christmas to New Year period, so a new engineer’s onboarding buddy isn’t booked for a week they’re away.
