When a batch of new developers starts, the visible effect is more pull requests. The less visible one is that every one of them lands on the two or three people senior enough to review it. Those reviewers stop shipping their own work, the review queue grows, and the new people sit idle waiting for comments.

Planning the sprint a term begins
The sprint when new developers arrive has less real capacity than the headcount says: seniors spend time onboarding, and newcomers are still learning the codebase. The Ontario calendar matters too. Christmas to New Year, Canada Day on 1 July, Thanksgiving in October and the province's statutory holidays all take days out of a sprint, and a two-week sprint with one in it is shorter than it looks.
On Business, delivery forecasts are recalculated from measured velocity as each sprint closes, so a dip during onboarding shows up in the release date instead of being hidden. Business also adds the audit log, which records what people and AI assistants changed.
Time logging on Team takes about five seconds next to the task just closed, with reminders sent to the developer, not their lead. No screenshots, keystroke logging or activity tracking, for interns or anyone else.
