The tool should change plans, not the startup

A startup's needs from a project tool change three times in its first couple of years. At first it's a shared list for two or three founders. Then come the first hires, and with them hiring checklists, onboarding and the question of who is working on what. Then come investors, who want to know when the product will ship and whether last quarter's date held.

Most teams handle that by switching tools at each stage, losing history each time. ShipSprint is one workspace across all three. You move between plans; the boards, wiki pages and decisions stay where they are.

Try it with your own teamEvery plan starts with 14 days of the full Business plan, a sample project loaded and no card needed.

Which plan, when

An honest guide to what each plan covers, so the upgrade is a decision rather than a surprise.

Founders only: Free

Core boards for up to 5 people across 2 projects, with every project template and community support. Time tracking, GitHub and AI assistants aren't part of it.

First hires: Team

GitHub moves and closes cards, time tracking and timesheets, capacity planning, email digests, the manager dashboard and AI assistant access over MCP.

Investors: Business

Delivery forecasts from measured velocity, the owner command center and Monday digest, scorecards, the audit log and sign-in with Google or Microsoft.

Any stage: the exit

A full JSON export of the workspace on every plan, and a full refund on any paid charge within 7 days.

Hiring the first ten people

The first hires shape the company, and in Waterloo some of them may be co-op students on a single work term. Either way, each one needs a first week someone has planned. Use an HR board for the candidate pipeline and an onboarding checklist per new starter, on the same subscription as engineering, so hiring doesn't need its own tool.

Write decisions down from the start. The built-in wiki keeps them with page history, and any sentence can become a task. When a student's term ends, what they knew stays in the workspace.

Everyone opens to a "my day" screen with today's work and an "I'm blocked" button that brings in the right person with context. On Team, a one-tap time log sits beside it, useful if you claim development costs or bill a pilot customer by the hour.

The board meeting question: "when will it ship?"

On Business, ShipSprint recalculates delivery forecasts from the team's measured velocity each time a sprint closes. A slipping date is visible weeks ahead, which gives a founder time to change scope before the board meeting instead of explaining it during one. The Monday digest arrives already assembled, which makes a useful starting point for an investor update.

Capacity planning on Team and up counts approved leave. Build in Christmas to New Year, Canada Day on 1 July, Thanksgiving in October and Ontario's statutory holidays before you give anyone a date.

Nobody is watched while they work: no screenshots, no keystroke logs, no activity tracking. Scorecards on Business are leave-adjusted and visible to the person they describe.

Signing up from Waterloo: what to know first

Who you're buying from. ShipSprint is built by Quantuva Technologies Pvt. Ltd., Hyderabad, India. There's no office or local entity in Canada; support is by email and in-app chat.

Time zones. IST is 10 hours 30 minutes ahead of Waterloo in winter and 9 hours 30 minutes ahead in summer. A question you send in the afternoon usually gets answered during the Indian working day and is waiting for you the next morning.

Billing. Paid plans are per seat in Indian rupees through Razorpay. Your card or bank converts the amount to Canadian dollars. If you're registered for HST, ask your accountant how it applies to a subscription bought from abroad.

Data protection. Once you collect user or customer data, PIPEDA applies. Look at the sub-processor list and the security overview, and check them against your obligations and any pilot agreement before personal data goes into the workspace.
