The point where a spreadsheet stops working

Most teams start with a shared sheet and a group chat. It works until there are two projects running at once, a few people on leave, and a manager asking which of this month's commitments are actually going to land. At that point the sheet is out of date the moment it's opened, and the answers live in someone's message history.

ShipSprint replaces that with boards where a card's column is its status, a triage inbox where new requests wait until someone decides to take them on, and a wiki where decisions sit next to the work, with page history. Any sentence on a wiki page can become a task, so the action points from a meeting don't stay in the minutes.

Engineering, HR, marketing and operations each get their own templates and vocabulary on the same subscription. A company in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia's capital, that runs a product team alongside a sales or operations team doesn't need a separate tool for each.

Three festival calendars, one sprint plan

Malaysia's public holidays follow several calendars. The ones that most affect delivery are Hari Raya Aidilfitri, Chinese New Year and Deepavali, and because they move from year to year, a plan drawn up in January can easily put a deadline in the middle of one of them. If people add a few days of leave around the festival they celebrate, a team can lose different people at different points in the year.

On Team and up, capacity planning counts approved leave and out-of-office. When someone books time off for Hari Raya or Chinese New Year, the sprint covering those days is planned with the people who'll actually be working. On Business, delivery forecasts are recalculated from measured velocity as each sprint closes, so a date that the holiday weeks have pushed out of reach shows up early.

The working week is Monday to Friday in most states, and the Kuala Lumpur federal territory follows it. If you have colleagues in a state that keeps a different weekend, check which days they share with you before setting sprint ceremonies.

Fair measurement as the team grows

Teams that grow quickly usually start asking how to tell who is overloaded and who has room. ShipSprint answers that from the work itself: what's on each person's board, the hours they log in about five seconds next to the task they just finished (Team and up), and on Business, scorecards adjusted for approved leave that the person can see for themselves.

There are no screenshots, no keystroke logging and no activity tracking. Reminders for missing time logs go to the individual, not to their manager.

Using ShipSprint from Kuala Lumpur: what to know first

Who you're buying from. ShipSprint is built by Quantuva Technologies Pvt. Ltd. in Hyderabad, India. There is no office or local entity in Malaysia, and support is by email and in-app chat.

Time zones. IST is 2 hours 30 minutes behind Kuala Lumpur, and neither side changes its clocks. Your afternoon overlaps with the Indian working day, and support replies usually arrive the same working day, Indian time.

Billing. Plans are charged per seat in Indian rupees through Razorpay, and your bank converts the amount to ringgit. How Malaysian service tax applies to a digital service bought from a foreign supplier is a question for your accountant.

Data protection. Malaysian companies handling personal data work under the Personal Data Protection Act 2010. The sub-processor list names every provider that handles workspace data, and the security overview covers tenant isolation and two-factor authentication. Check both against your own obligations and client contracts before moving personal data in.
