The sprint that keeps getting interrupted

Most development teams plan a sprint and then spend part of it on something else: a production issue, an urgent request from operations, a "quick question" from sales that turns into an afternoon. None of it is on the board, so at the review the sprint looks like a failure and nobody can show where the time went.

The answer isn't to refuse interruptions. It's to make them visible. In ShipSprint, every bug report and request from outside the team goes into a triage inbox. Someone on the team, a rotating owner if you like, decides each morning what is truly urgent and puts it on the board as a card. Everything else waits for sprint planning.

Per-column WIP limits stop the team from starting new sprint work while urgent items are in progress, so interruptions take the place of planned work openly rather than piling on top of it.

Velocity that includes the interruptions

On Business, delivery forecasts are recalculated from the team's measured velocity as each sprint closes. If a third of every sprint goes on urgent work, the forecast reflects that, and the date for the next feature is honest instead of optimistic. That's a better conversation to have with the rest of the company than another missed date.

The velocity is only meaningful if the board is accurate. On Team and up, a GitHub branch linked to a card moves it when work starts, and a merged pull request closes it, so cards don't linger in "in progress" after the code is in.

Capacity planning on Team and up counts approved leave and public holidays. In Saudi Arabia that means planning around Ramadan, when working hours are often shorter, and the Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha holidays, which move about eleven days earlier each year.

What a Jeddah development team should check first

Time zones. IST is 2 hours 30 minutes ahead of Jeddah, without any seasonal change. A problem raised during your Monday to Thursday morning usually gets a reply the same working day, Indian time.

Billing. Each seat is billed in Indian rupees through Razorpay, and your bank converts it into riyals. Ask your accountant how Saudi VAT applies to a service bought from abroad.

Data protection. Stack traces, logs and test records pasted into tasks may hold personal data covered by the PDPL. Check the sub-processor list and the security overview against your obligations and any client agreements.
