Too much in progress, not enough done
Most sprint trouble starts quietly. A developer picks up a second ticket while waiting on review for the first, a production bug arrives mid-sprint, someone else starts a spike, and by Thursday the board shows nine things in progress and two finished. Nobody did anything wrong; the board just never pushed back.
ShipSprint boards carry per-column WIP limits. When "in review" already holds as many cards as the team set, the column says so, and the useful move becomes clearing a review instead of starting something new. Unplanned work goes to a triage inbox first, so a lead can decide whether a bug really needs to enter the current sprint.
With technology a large part of Austin's economy, many engineering teams here are part of companies that grew fast and are now trying to put shape on how work flows. WIP limits and a triage step are the two cheapest pieces of that shape.
Jobs the board does so developers don't
The aim is a board that stays accurate because updating it takes no effort.
On Team and up, a branch linked to a card moves it along the board, and the merged pull request closes it. Status follows the code.
The "I'm blocked" button on the "my day" screen pulls in the person who can unblock the work, with the card and its history attached.
Where time matters, it's logged in about five seconds next to the task just finished. Reminders go to the developer, never to their manager.
On Team and Business, Claude Code, Cursor and other assistants connect over MCP and can read or update tasks with the developer's own permissions.
Design notes live in the built-in wiki with page history, next to the work, and a sentence in a design note can become a task.
Sprint plans that match who's actually there
Velocity only predicts anything if the sprint it's applied to has the same people in it. Capacity planning on Team and up counts approved leave and out-of-office, so a two-week sprint that includes Independence Day on 4 July, Thanksgiving week in late November or the end-of-December holidays is planned at the size it really is.
On Business, delivery forecasts are recalculated from measured velocity as each sprint closes. A release date that's drifting shows up weeks ahead, which is when cutting scope is still a choice. Scorecards on Business are leave-adjusted, and each developer can see their own.
None of this involves watching people work. ShipSprint has no screenshots, keystroke logging or activity tracking. If your finance team needs development hours by project, for instance for tax or accounting treatment of software costs, logged time gives them a record without anyone being monitored.
Using ShipSprint from Austin: what to know before you start
Who you're buying from. The product comes from Quantuva Technologies Pvt. Ltd. in Hyderabad, India. There's no office or local entity in the US, and support is handled by email and in-app chat.
Time zones. IST is 11 hours 30 minutes ahead of Austin in winter and 10 hours 30 minutes ahead in summer. Support replies usually arrive the same working day in India, which is overnight in Austin, so connect GitHub and test it a day before the sprint you plan to run on it.
Billing. Seats are billed per user in Indian rupees through Razorpay, and your bank converts to dollars. Ask your accountant whether Texas sales or use tax applies to a foreign software subscription.
Data protection. The US relies on state laws, such as California's CCPA, and sector rules like HIPAA instead of one federal privacy law. If production logs or user records get pasted into tickets, check the sub-processor list and the security overview against your obligations and contracts.
