A trail from requirement to merge

Boston is a major centre for hospitals, universities and life sciences, so many development teams here write software that gets inspected after it ships. A quality lead, a customer's auditor or a new engineer six months from now wants to follow a change back to the requirement that caused it.

Most teams can do that, eventually, by piecing together a ticket, a chat thread and a pull request description. ShipSprint makes the chain part of the normal workflow so nobody has to write it up afterwards:

  1. The requirement or design note is written in the built-in wiki, which keeps page history.
  2. The sentence that describes the work becomes a task, so the task points back to the page.
  3. On Team and up, a GitHub branch linked to the card moves it along the board.
  4. The merged pull request closes the card.
  5. On Business, the workspace audit log records actions in the workspace, including those taken by AI assistants.

Keeping the sprint intact

Teams that serve clinicians or researchers may get requests from people outside engineering who don't know how a sprint works. If those requests go straight to a developer, the sprint plan is fiction by Wednesday. ShipSprint sends them to a triage inbox, where a lead decides what enters the sprint and what waits.

Per-column WIP limits keep the number of half-finished items down, and the "my day" screen gives each developer today's items, a one-tap time log and an "I'm blocked" button that brings in the right person with the card attached. Time logging takes about five seconds on Team and up, and reminders go to the developer, not their manager.

On Team and Business, developers can reach the workspace from Claude Code, Cursor, Claude, ChatGPT or Antigravity over MCP. An assistant can only do what that developer could.

Capacity planning on Team and up counts approved leave and holidays. Add the usual US gaps (Thanksgiving week in late November, Independence Day on 4 July, the end-of-December holidays) and Patriots' Day, the Massachusetts state holiday on the third Monday in April, if your team takes it.

More than developers

Who else reads the board

In regulated or research-heavy work, several roles need the same picture for different reasons.

Testers and reviewers

A review or verification column with its own WIP limit makes a growing queue visible before the release date is at risk.

Product owners

Specs in the wiki, linked tasks on the board, and on Business, forecasts recalculated from measured velocity as sprints close.

Quality and compliance leads

Page history on every wiki page, and on Business the workspace audit log, so questions about who changed what have a direct answer.

Engineering managers

The manager dashboard on Team, and leave-adjusted scorecards on Business that each developer can see for themselves. No screenshots, keystroke logging or activity tracking.

Using ShipSprint from Boston: practical notes

Who you're buying from. Quantuva Technologies Pvt. Ltd., Hyderabad, India. There's no office or local entity in the US, and support is by email and in-app chat.

Time zones. IST is 10 hours 30 minutes ahead of Boston in winter and 9 hours 30 minutes ahead in summer. Support replies usually come the same working day in India, so a question you send in the afternoon is typically picked up while Boston is asleep. Test the GitHub connection before the sprint that depends on it.

Billing. Per-seat charges are in Indian rupees, through Razorpay, and your bank converts them to dollars. Whether any Massachusetts sales or use tax is due on a foreign software service is a question for your accountant.

Data protection. The US has no single federal privacy law. Depending on your users, state laws such as California's CCPA and Massachusetts's data security regulations, and sector rules like HIPAA, may apply. Before pasting logs or user records into tickets, check the sub-processor list and the security overview against those obligations and your contracts.
