Five people, one very large customer

Houston's economy is closely tied to the energy industry, and a startup here may well find that its first serious customer is an established company with a procurement team, a security questionnaire and a pilot plan longer than the startup's own roadmap. When the big customer asks the hard questions

Enterprise buyers ask small vendors the same questions they ask big ones. Who has access to our data? Which third parties do you use? Can we get our information back? If your pilot notes or support tickets will include the customer's details, your project tool is part of the answer.

On every ShipSprint plan, each workspace is an isolated tenant, every user can turn on two-factor authentication, and the whole workspace can be exported as JSON. Small team, small margin for absence

With five people, one week of leave is a fifth of the team. On Team and up, capacity planning counts approved leave and out-of-office, so a pilot milestone isn't promised for a week when half the engineers are away. For a US team, check Thanksgiving week in late November, Independence Day on 4 July and the end-of-December holidays, and remember that your customer's testers and approvers take those weeks off too.

Decisions made under pressure are the ones nobody can find later. The built-in wiki keeps them beside the work, with page history, and any sentence can become a task. Everyone opens to a "my day" screen, and an "I'm blocked" button pulls in the person who can help with the context attached.

Signing up from Houston: four things to know

Who you're buying from. ShipSprint comes from Quantuva Technologies Pvt. Ltd. in Hyderabad, India. There's no office or local entity in the US. Support is by email and in-app chat on paid plans, and community support on Free.

Time zones. IST is 11 hours 30 minutes ahead of Houston in winter and 10 hours 30 minutes ahead in summer. Replies usually come the same working day in India, so plan for answers overnight, not while a customer is waiting on the call.

Billing. Paid plans are charged per seat in Indian rupees through Razorpay, and your bank converts them to dollars. How sales tax applies to a service bought from outside the US is a question for your accountant.

Data protection. There's no single federal privacy law in the US. State laws such as California's CCPA, and sector rules such as HIPAA for health data, may apply as you take on customers. Check the sub-processor list and the security overview against those obligations and your customer agreements.
