The migration project versus the Monday outage
An IT firm in San Jose may be rebuilding a client's lab network, moving servers to new racks or rolling out a new device management setup, all planned as a project with milestones. At the same time, the same engineers handle that client's day-to-day support. When something breaks, support wins, as it should. The trouble is that nobody records what it cost the project.
After a month of that, the project is three weeks behind and the client asks why. The honest answer is "we spent a lot of time on your outages", but without numbers it sounds like an excuse.
ShipSprint lets you split the two cleanly. Give each client a project board for the planned work and a separate board for run work, with support requests arriving through a triage inbox. Engineers log time in about five seconds against whichever task they just finished, and on Team and up the timesheets show how the hours divided between project and support. That turns "we were busy" into a figure you can put in front of the client.
How the bench is organised
Team covers most of this. Business adds the firm-wide view, forecasts and the audit log.
A limit on the run board's "in progress" column shows when support is eating capacity the project needs.
Migration runbooks and cutover steps in wiki pages with history. Each step can become a task with an owner.
On Team and up, approved leave and out-of-office count in capacity planning, so a cutover isn't booked for a week the lead engineer is away.
On Business, delivery forecasts recalculated from measured velocity as each sprint of project work closes.
On Business, the owner command center and Monday digest across every client's project and run boards.
Cutover weekends and holiday weeks
Some clients want disruptive changes made while their own staff are away, and the US holidays are the obvious candidates: Thanksgiving week in late November, Independence Day on 4 July and the end-of-December holidays. Those are also the weeks your engineers want off. Capacity planning on Team and up shows who is actually available before you agree to a holiday cutover.
Engineers aren't monitored. There are no screenshots, keystroke logs or activity tracking in ShipSprint, and reminders to log time go to the engineer, not to their manager. On Business, scorecards are leave-adjusted and visible to the person they describe.
On Team and up, engineers can use Claude, ChatGPT, Claude Code, Cursor or Antigravity with the workspace over MCP, with exactly their own permissions. On Business, those actions go into the workspace audit log.
Signing up from San Jose: what to know
Who you're buying from. ShipSprint is made by Quantuva Technologies Pvt. Ltd., Hyderabad, India. It has no office or local entity in the US. Support comes by email and in-app chat.
Time zones. IST is 13 hours 30 minutes ahead of San Jose in winter and 12 hours 30 minutes ahead in summer. Support usually responds within the Indian working day, which falls in your night, so set up and test the workspace well before a client cutover relies on it.
Billing. Billing is per seat in Indian rupees via Razorpay, and your bank converts the charge to dollars. Your accountant can say whether sales or use tax applies to a foreign service.
Data protection. California's CCPA applies to many businesses that handle Californians' data; the US otherwise has state laws and sector rules such as HIPAA, not one federal privacy law. Client network details and technical documents may also be covered by confidentiality or export terms in your contracts. Check the sub-processor list and the security overview against all of those before moving client data in.
