Project Management Software for Software Development Teams in San Jose
For San Jose developers writing firmware, drivers and systems software, where "done" means it passed on real hardware, not just in CI. How ShipSprint models that, and what to know before buying from a vendor in India.

"Merged" isn't "done" when there's a board on the bench
San Jose is in Silicon Valley, a region named for its chip industry, and if your team writes firmware, drivers or embedded software, your definition of done has a step most software teams don't: the change has to pass on real hardware. The pull request merges, CI is green, and the work still isn't finished until someone has run it on the right revision of the board in the lab.
A board with "to do, in progress, done" hides that step, so the hardware-test queue becomes invisible. Five changes are "done" according to the board and none has been on a device.
In ShipSprint, give the hardware step its own work. Each code change gets a card on the software board; on Team and up, the GitHub integration moves it when the branch opens and closes it when the pull request merges. Alongside it, a card on a separate hardware-validation board tracks the bench run, and someone closes it when the change has passed on the device. Put a WIP limit on that board's columns and you can see when the lab, not the code, is the bottleneck.
What changes for the engineers
Less status reporting, and blockers that reach the right team.
"I'm blocked" on the "my day" screen pulls in the hardware or test engineer who can help, with the card's context attached.
Debug builds and tooling requests from hardware and validation teams land in a triage inbox for the tech lead to schedule.
Interface and register specs in the wiki. Page history shows what changed between board revisions, and any line can become a task.
On Team and up, Claude Code, Cursor, Antigravity, Claude and ChatGPT connect over MCP with your own permissions, so cards can be checked or updated without leaving the editor.
On Business, delivery forecasts recalculated from measured velocity as each sprint closes, so a hardware slip shows in the date.
Lab time, leave and the holidays
The person who runs the bench is a capacity constraint too. On Team and up, approved leave and out-of-office count in capacity planning, so a sprint that needs hardware testing isn't planned for a week the lab engineer is away. The predictable gaps for a US team are Thanksgiving week in late November, Independence Day on 4 July and the end-of-December holidays, and if your board suppliers close over the same weeks, plan for that as well.
Time logging, if you use it, is a five-second entry next to the finished task, with reminders sent to you and not your manager. Nothing in ShipSprint records your screen or keystrokes. On Business, scorecards are leave-adjusted and visible to the person they describe.
Know this before a San Jose team signs up
Who you're buying from. Quantuva Technologies Pvt. Ltd. builds ShipSprint in Hyderabad, India. It has no office or local entity in the US, and support is by email and in-app chat.
Time zones. IST is 13 hours 30 minutes ahead of San Jose in winter and 12 hours 30 minutes ahead in summer. Support usually replies the same working day in India, which is your overnight, so put the full details of a GitHub or MCP setup question in the first message.
Billing. Each seat is charged in Indian rupees through Razorpay, and your bank converts it to dollars. Ask your accountant about sales or use tax on a service bought from abroad.
Data protection. California's CCPA applies to many businesses that handle Californians' data, and the US adds other state laws and sector rules such as HIPAA, with no single federal law. Hardware specs may also carry customer NDAs or export terms. Check the sub-processor list and the security overview against your obligations and contracts.
Questions from San Jose developers
Because a merged pull request closes its card on the software board. Tracking the bench run as its own card keeps that automation intact and still shows which changes haven't been on a device.
No. It starts on Team. Free is core boards for up to 5 users and 2 projects. See the pricing page.
