Start with what ShipSprint is not

Washington's economy is closely tied to the federal government and the firms that work for it, so the first question many buyers here ask is whether a tool is cleared for government work. ShipSprint is not. It holds no government security authorisation, including FedRAMP, and it should not hold federal data, controlled information or anything a contract says must stay in an authorised system.

That still leaves a lot of work it suits. Consulting firms, contractors and software companies in the region run commercial projects, internal delivery, hiring, marketing and operations that sit outside those rules. For that work, ShipSprint is a per-seat project tool with boards, time logging and a wiki in one place. Check your contracts, and your client's rules on where work information can live, before deciding which projects go in.

Hours, projects and the people on them

Professional services firms live on accurate hours. On Team and up, a person logs time in about five seconds next to the task they just finished, and timesheets collect the week. If someone forgets, the reminder goes to them rather than to their manager. Because every task belongs to a project, hours arrive already sorted by engagement, ready for whoever prepares the invoice or the internal report.

Every project gets its own board with per-column WIP limits, and new requests go to a triage inbox where a lead decides what's accepted. On Business, delivery forecasts are recalculated from measured velocity each time a sprint closes, so a deliverable drifting past its date shows up before the client review rather than at it.

Capacity planning on Team and up counts approved leave and out-of-office. Plan around Thanksgiving week in late November, Independence Day on 4 July and the end-of-December holidays. If your people work to a government client's calendar as well, add those dates to the plan too.

Templates for more than delivery

Engineering, HR, marketing and operations templates come on the same subscription.

Delivery teams

Boards with WIP limits, a triage inbox, and a "my day" screen with an "I'm blocked" button that pulls in the right person with context.

Recruiting

Candidate pipelines and onboarding checklists, so a new hire's start date and equipment aren't tracked in someone's inbox.

Marketing and business development

Event checklists, content calendars and recurring tasks in their own vocabulary, for work that isn't covered by a client contract.

Firm leadership

On Business, the owner command center across every project and a Monday digest that arrives assembled.

Controls you can check

Every workspace is an isolated tenant, and two-factor authentication is available to every user. On Business, people can sign in with Google or Microsoft, and the workspace audit log records actions, including those taken by AI assistants. On Team and up, assistants such as Claude, ChatGPT and Cursor connect over MCP with the user's own permissions. A full JSON export is available on every plan.

There are no screenshots, keystroke logs or activity tracking. Scorecards on Business are adjusted for leave and visible to the person they describe.

Using ShipSprint from Washington DC: what to know first

Who you're buying from. ShipSprint is made by Quantuva Technologies Pvt. Ltd., Hyderabad, India. There is no office or local entity in the US, and no government authorisation. Support is by email and in-app chat.

Time zones. IST is 10 hours 30 minutes ahead of Washington DC in winter and 9 hours 30 minutes ahead in summer. A question sent in your afternoon reaches us around the start of the Indian day, and replies usually come that same Indian working day, so expect answers overnight rather than within your own hours.

Billing. Per seat in Indian rupees through Razorpay; your bank converts the charge to dollars. Whether DC, Maryland or Virginia sales or use tax applies to a service bought from abroad depends on where you are, and is a question for your accountant.

Data protection. The US has no single federal privacy law. State laws, California's CCPA among them, apply alongside sector rules like HIPAA for health data, and government contracts often add their own requirements. Read the sub-processor list and the security overview, and check both against your obligations and every client contract before any project goes in.
