Choosing a tool when nobody has time to choose a tool

In the first year of a startup, the work tracker is usually whatever someone set up on day one: a shared document, a free board, a chat channel with pinned messages. It costs nothing, and that's the point. The trouble arrives later, when the team has grown, the free tool has hit a limit, and moving everything takes a week nobody has.

So the questions worth asking early are practical. What does it cost when we add the sixth person? What do we lose if we stop paying? Can we take our data with us? Does one tool cover the product work and the hiring, or do we end up with three?

What you get at each stage

Up to five people. Free costs ₹0 for up to 5 users and 2 projects, with every project template and community support, and it doesn't expire. It is core boards only, which is enough to run a first backlog and see who is doing what.

When you need hours, GitHub or more people. Team is ₹299 per user per month, or ₹2,899 per user per year, for up to 40 users and 100 projects. It adds GitHub integration (branches move cards, merged pull requests close them), time tracking and timesheets, capacity planning with out-of-office, the manager dashboard, email digests and AI assistant access over MCP.

When investors and customers want dates. Business is ₹599 per user per month, or ₹6,499 per user per year. It adds delivery forecasts from measured velocity, the owner command center and Monday digest, scorecards, the workspace audit log, sign-in with Google or Microsoft, priority support and unlimited projects.

Every paid plan starts with a 14-day full-access trial on Business, sample project loaded, no card. If nobody upgrades, the workspace drops to Free and nothing is deleted.

When one person away is a fifth of the company

In a five-person startup, one holiday changes the plan. In Chile, January and February are the main summer holiday months, and the Fiestas Patrias around 18 September take another few days. If a demo or a launch is set for February, check who will actually be there.

On Team, approved leave and out-of-office feed capacity planning, so the sprint plan reflects the people available. Each person's "my day" screen shows today's items, a one-tap time log, and an "I'm blocked" button that brings in a co-founder with the context attached.

Growing fast doesn't mean watching people more closely. ShipSprint has no screenshots, keystroke logging or activity tracking, on any plan. Business scorecards are leave-adjusted and visible to the person they describe.

For founders in Santiago: buying from India

Who you're buying from. ShipSprint belongs to Quantuva Technologies Pvt. Ltd., a company in Hyderabad, India. There's no office or local entity in Chile. Support is by email and in-app chat; on Free it's community support.

Time zones. IST is 8 hours 30 minutes ahead of Santiago in January, during Chilean summer time, and 9 hours 30 minutes ahead in July. Paid-plan questions are usually answered the same Indian working day, which is mostly your night, so it pays to set up during the trial rather than the week of a launch.

Billing. Plans are billed per seat in Indian rupees through Razorpay, and your bank converts the charge to Chilean pesos. Whether IVA or any other tax applies to a service from a foreign provider is a question for your accountant.

Data protection. Chile protects personal data through Law 19,628, and Law 21,719 is due to replace it. If early customers' details or candidates' CVs end up in the workspace, review the sub-processor list and the security overview against what the law and your customer contracts require.
