A founding team in two countries

Miami has long been a centre for trade and business with Latin America, and a startup here might have its CEO in Miami, its CTO in Buenos Aires and its first two engineers in Medellín. That's a real advantage, and it changes what the team needs from its tools. There's less time when everyone is online together, more of the work has to be written down, and the calendar has holidays from several countries in it.

Writing it down instead of calling

A distributed founding team can't settle everything on a call. ShipSprint is built so it doesn't have to. A card's column is its status. Everyone starts on a "my day" screen with today's items, and an "I'm blocked" button pulls in the person who can help, with the card attached, so the question is clear even if they read it the next morning.

Decisions belong in the built-in wiki: pricing, the reason for a technical choice, what an investor asked for. Pages keep their history, and any sentence can become a task, which stops "we agreed on the call" from being the only record.

New requests, from early customers or from each other, go into a triage inbox. One person decides what gets scheduled, and the small team doesn't start five things at once; per-column WIP limits help there too.

A small team on several calendars

With five people, one holiday can take out a fifth of the team. On Team and up, capacity planning counts approved leave, out-of-office and public holidays, so put in every country's dates. On the US side that means Thanksgiving week in late November, Independence Day on 4 July and the end-of-December holidays. In Argentina, January and February are the summer holiday months; Colombia moves many public holidays to Mondays; and Holy Week is quiet across much of Latin America.

There's no monitoring of anyone, wherever they work: no screenshots, keystroke logs or activity tracking. On Business, scorecards are adjusted for leave and visible to the person they describe.

Signing up from Miami: what to know first

Who you're buying from. Quantuva Technologies Pvt. Ltd., Hyderabad, India. There is no office or local entity in the US or Latin America. Paid plans are supported by email and in-app chat; Free has community support.

Time zones. IST is 10 hours 30 minutes ahead of Miami in winter and 9 hours 30 minutes ahead in summer. Replies usually come the same working day in India, so most answers will reach you overnight. Ask before you need the answer.

Billing. Paid seats are charged in Indian rupees through Razorpay, and your bank converts the charge to dollars. Whether a US startup owes sales tax on a service bought from abroad is a question for your accountant.

Data protection. The US has no single federal privacy law; state laws such as California's CCPA, and sector rules like HIPAA, may apply as you take on customers. Co-founders and staff in other countries bring their own laws, such as Argentina's Personal Data Protection Law (Law 25,326). Check the sub-processor list and the security overview against those and any customer contract.
