Nobody hands you the scope any more

When you build for a client, the client decides what matters, and the hard part is delivering it. When you run your own subscription product, that decision is yours, and three groups have opinions about it. Product hears what customers ask for. Engineering knows what is actually ready to build. Sales or customer success has already told a prospect that a feature is coming "soon".

Teams that made the move from services to product often notice this first in the backlog. Requests arrive from support tickets, sales calls and the founder's inbox, and each one ends up in a different place. Some get built twice; some never get looked at.

Capacity planning on Team and up counts approved leave and public holidays. Before you promise a release, check it against Christmas to New Year, Easter, and the July and August summer holidays. A launch planned for late August can lose much of its testing and support cover to summer leave, which is worth knowing in June rather than in the week itself.

Email digests keep people who were away up to date when they return, without a catch-up meeting.

Using ShipSprint from Prague: the practical side

Who you're buying from. Your contract is with Quantuva Technologies Pvt. Ltd., a company in Hyderabad, India. There's no office or local entity in the Czech Republic, and support is by email and in-app chat.

Time zones. IST is 4 hours 30 minutes ahead of Prague in winter and 3 hours 30 minutes ahead in summer. Your morning overlaps with the Indian working afternoon, so a question raised before lunch usually gets a reply the same working day, Indian time.

Billing. Seats are billed in Indian rupees through Razorpay, with your bank converting the charge. How VAT applies when you buy a service from outside the EU is a question for your accountant.

Data protection. GDPR applies to you, and your own customers' security reviews may ask which vendors see their data.
