Work that waits on people outside the company
Kochi is a major port city, and trading and logistics businesses here share a particular kind of workload: much of it depends on people outside the company. A supplier's confirmation, a customs agent's paperwork, a buyer's approval. The work inside the company is rarely the slow part; the waiting is. And because the follow-ups live in phones and inboxes, nobody can see which orders are stuck or with whom.
Software teams have a version of the same problem with clients and reviewers, plus their own: sprints that slip because the board doesn't reflect what's really done.
ShipSprint handles both with the same building blocks. Each order, project or client can be its own board. A card's column is its status, including a column for "waiting on someone outside", with a WIP limit so too many stalled items become visible. New requests arrive through a triage inbox and are assigned by a person, not by whoever saw the email first.
What it is and isn't for a trading business
ShipSprint doesn't track containers, file customs documents or manage inventory. Keep those in the systems built for them. What it does is coordinate the people work around them: who's chasing which document, which approvals are outstanding, what has to happen before a shipment can move.
The operations templates give that work its own vocabulary. Procedures, such as a document checklist for a particular export route or the steps for onboarding a new supplier, live in the built-in wiki with page history, and any sentence on a page can become a task with an owner. When something can't move, the "I'm blocked" button on the "my day" screen pulls in the right colleague with the context attached.
Who uses it in a Kochi company
Boards per order or route, with a column for items waiting on outside parties and a limit on how many can pile up there.
Sprints with WIP limits. On Team and up, GitHub branches move cards and merged pull requests close them.
Hiring pipelines and onboarding checklists with named owners.
Campaign plans and launch checklists in marketing's own terms.
On Team and up, the manager dashboard; on Business, the owner command center, a Monday digest and leave-adjusted scorecards.
Onam and the rest of the calendar
Onam, usually in August or September, is the big regional festival in Kerala, and many people take leave around it. Diwali and Holi also matter, and colleagues from other states may observe their own regional festivals, which differ from state to state. Capacity planning on Team and up counts approved leave, out-of-office and public holidays, so a plan drawn up in midsummer doesn't assume everyone is available during Onam. If your company works some Saturdays, as some firms do, plan on the days people are actually in.
On Team and up, people log time in about five seconds next to the task just done, and reminders about missing entries go to them, not their manager. There are no screenshots, keystroke logs or activity tracking.
