Trusting the work you can't see
When part of a team works from home, managers sometimes reach for tools that prove people are working: screenshots, activity meters, online indicators. They measure the wrong thing, they damage trust, and good developers notice. What a lead actually needs to know is whether the work is moving, and what's stopping it when it isn't.
ShipSprint is built on that view. There are no screenshots, no keystroke logging and no activity tracking anywhere in the product. Progress comes from the work itself. On Team and up, the board follows GitHub: opening a branch moves the card, and merging the pull request closes it. A lead at the office and a developer at home see the same board, kept current by the code.
Per-column WIP limits show where work is piling up. If the review column is full, that's a team problem to fix together, and it's visible to everyone, not just to whoever happens to be in the room.
Asynchronous by default
A split team loses the quick question across the desk. The replacement has to be written, and it has to reach the right person. On the "my day" screen, a developer sees today's items and can tap "I'm blocked": the right person is pulled in with the task's context attached, so the answer doesn't need a call to set up.
Decisions made on calls are the next thing to lose. The built-in wiki keeps architecture notes and decisions with page history, next to the work they affect, and any sentence on a page can become a task. A developer who missed the meeting can read what was decided and why.
New requests from outside the team go into a triage inbox, where the lead decides what enters the sprint. Developers working from home aren't the last to hear about a change of priority.
What makes a split team work
Card positions driven by GitHub on Team and up, so a short written update replaces a long call.
On Team and up, Claude Code, Cursor and others connect over MCP and act with each developer's own permissions.

Onam, leave and sprint capacity
Onam, usually in August or September, is the big regional festival in Kerala, and a sprint that crosses it should be planned smaller. Capacity planning on Team and up counts approved leave, out-of-office and public holidays, including Diwali, Holi and the regional festivals of developers from other states, which vary from state to state. If your company works some Saturdays, plan on the days people actually work.

Time zones. Support shares your IST working day and typically replies within it.
