The client is paying for people, not just output

In a dedicated-team contract, a client pays for a fixed number of engineers, often by the month. The client's expectation is simple: those people, working on our work, every working day. The risks are just as simple. An engineer is quietly pulled onto another account for a week, three people take leave at once, or a key developer leaves and the replacement starts cold.

Each of those is manageable if it's visible early, and damaging if the client finds out first. Most firms track them across a resourcing spreadsheet, a leave system and someone's memory, so nobody sees the full picture until the monthly report.

ShipSprint puts the client's work and the people assigned to it in one place. Each client gets its own project and board. On Team and up, the manager dashboard and capacity planning show who is working on which client this week, with approved leave and out-of-office already counted. A gap in a client's team shows up when the leave is approved, not when the client asks why nothing moved.

Hours the client can trust

For hourly or headcount billing, the timesheet is what the client checks. On Team and up, each engineer logs time in about five seconds next to the task just finished, and because the task belongs to the client's project, the hours are already attributed. Weekly timesheets per person become the backing for the invoice.

Clients sometimes ask for proof of activity. ShipSprint deliberately doesn't offer that: there are no screenshots, no keystroke logging and no activity tracking. What you can show is logged hours against named tasks, and on Business, scorecards from delivered work adjusted for approved leave, which the engineer can also see.

Onam, and the client's own holidays

Onam, usually in August or September, is Kerala's big regional festival, and it's a week to plan cover for well in advance. Add Diwali and Holi, and the regional festivals of engineers from other states, which vary by state. Capacity planning on Team and up counts approved leave and public holidays, so the account manager can tell a client ahead of time how many people will be working that week. If your company works some Saturdays, plan on the days people are actually in.

The client's calendar matters too. If the client is abroad, its public holidays decide when reviews and approvals happen, so put both calendars side by side before agreeing release dates.

What a Kochi IT company should check

Data protection. Engineer details and any client data in tickets fall under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, and each client's contract may add obligations. Review the sub-processor list and the security overview against both.
