When the team changes every few months

Plenty of software teams run on a mix of permanent staff, contractors and consultants on fixed terms, especially when the work is funded in phases. Each time someone leaves, some knowledge leaves with them: why the authentication flow works the way it does, which library was ruled out and why, what the half-finished branch was for. Each time someone joins, they spend weeks rebuilding that picture from chat history.

ShipSprint keeps that knowledge in the work itself. Architecture and design decisions go in the built-in wiki, with page history, next to the board they affect. Any sentence in a decision record can become a task, so "we'll migrate the old endpoints after launch" becomes a card with an owner instead of a line nobody re-reads.

On Team and up, the board follows GitHub. Opening a branch moves the card, a merged pull request closes it, and the board reflects the repository whether or not the person who did the work is still on the team.

Fixed budgets and phase deadlines

When a phase has a fixed budget and an end date, the questions are how much has been spent and whether the scope will fit. On Team and up, developers log time in about five seconds beside the task just finished, against the project or workstream it belongs to, and reminders for missing days go to the developer rather than their manager. On Business, delivery forecasts are recalculated from measured velocity at the end of each sprint, so a phase that won't finish on time is visible weeks before the deadline.

New requests from stakeholders go into a triage inbox instead of straight to whichever developer they know, so scope changes are decided on rather than absorbed. At the end of a phase, or a contract, the full workspace can be exported as JSON. There are no screenshots, keystroke logs or activity tracking anywhere in the product, and on Business every action an AI assistant takes is in the audit log.

Holidays across cantons and countries

Capacity planning on Team and up counts approved leave and public holidays. In Switzerland that means Christmas to New Year and Easter, plus holidays that differ by canton. Geneva has its own, such as Jeûne genevois in September. A team with contractors in France or elsewhere will have different public holidays again, so add each person's calendar before planning the sprint.

Data protection. Bug reports, logs and test data can contain personal data covered by the revised FADP, and the GDPR if EU residents are involved. Review the sub-processor list and the security overview against your obligations and any client or funder contracts first.
