A startup that sells to larger organisations meets their process early. When to move up a plan

Stay on Free while you’re five or fewer and a board is all you need. It includes core boards and every project template, but not time tracking, GitHub or assistant access, which begin on Team.

Move to Team when you hire engineers, or when a grant or a client needs hours. At ₹299 per user per month (₹2,899 a year) you get GitHub branches that move cards, time logs that take about five seconds, timesheets, capacity planning that counts leave, the manager dashboard and access from Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and other assistants over MCP.

Move to Business when a customer or an investor wants dates and records. At ₹599 (₹6,499 a year) it adds delivery forecasts from measured velocity, the workspace audit log, sign-in with Google or Microsoft, scorecards, the owner command center with a Monday digest, priority support and unlimited projects.

You can try Business for 14 days with a sample project before deciding. If nobody upgrades, the workspace goes back to Free with nothing deleted, and any paid charge can be refunded in full within 7 days.

Using ShipSprint from Ottawa: the fine print

Who you’re buying from. Quantuva Technologies Pvt. Ltd. in Hyderabad, India, makes ShipSprint. It has no office or local entity in Canada, and support is by email and in-app chat.

Time zones. IST is 10 hours 30 minutes ahead of Ottawa in winter and 9 hours 30 minutes ahead in summer. Support normally replies the same working day in India, so a question you send in the evening is usually answered before your next morning starts.

Billing. Paid plans are charged per seat in Indian rupees through Razorpay, and your bank shows the converted amount in Canadian dollars. How GST or HST applies to a service from a foreign supplier is a question for your accountant.

Data protection. PIPEDA applies to most Canadian businesses handling personal information, and some provinces add their own laws. When a customer’s questionnaire asks about your vendors, the sub-processor list and the security overview are the documents to send yourself first; check them against your own obligations and the customer’s contract.

A small team’s calendar

On Team and up, capacity planning includes approved leave and public holidays. For a handful of people, Canada Day on 1 July, Thanksgiving in October and the Christmas to New Year period can each take a real share of a sprint, so look at them before you promise a pilot milestone.
