Nobody's job is to chase status yet

A startup with eight people doesn't have a project manager. It has a founder who spends Monday mornings asking each person what they're doing, then tries to remember the answers. ShipSprint gives that founder some of the time back. Every request, from anyone, goes into a triage inbox and is assigned deliberately. A card's column is its status, so "where are we?" is answered by looking at the board. A small team and a long summer

In a team of six, two people on holiday is a third of the company. In Portugal the August summer break, the June saints' festivals and Christmas to New Year are the periods to plan around; in Lisbon itself, the Santo António holiday in June is a local one.

On Team and up, capacity planning counts approved leave and public holidays, so the sprint before a launch isn't planned for people who'll be on a beach. On Business, delivery forecasts are recalculated from measured velocity as each sprint closes, which gives a founder an honest date to share with investors before the board meeting rather than an apology after it.

Decisions made in those early months go into the built-in wiki, with page history, so the reasoning behind a choice is still there when the person who made it has moved on. Any sentence on a page can become a task.

Using ShipSprint from Lisbon: the short version

Who you're buying from. Quantuva Technologies Pvt. Ltd. of Hyderabad, India, builds and sells ShipSprint. There's no office or local entity in Portugal, and support comes by email and in-app chat.

Time zones. IST is 5 hours 30 minutes ahead of Lisbon in winter and 4 hours 30 minutes ahead in summer. Ask in your morning and you'll usually get a reply the same Indian working day.

Billing. Seats are charged in Indian rupees through Razorpay and your bank converts the amount to euros. Ask your accountant how Portuguese VAT works for a service bought from outside the EU.

Data protection. The GDPR applies to the personal data you hold, candidates and early customers included. Read the sub-processor list and the security overview against your obligations and any customer contracts before relying on them.
